Greyfriars Bobby.
“Robert was fantastic! His excellent knowledge of Edinburgh's history and brilliant story telling and sense of humour made for a fun filled morning. We especially enjoyed the way Robert used old images to allow us to visualise how Edinburgh looked in the past. Although I have lived here all my life, I learned SO MUCH about this beautiful city.” Catherine G - TripAdvisor review - November 2019
This walking tour will take you on an exploration of the Old Town part of Edinburgh’s Unesco World Heritage Site. You’ll explore streets and buildings in and around the Royal Mile and both sides of the Cowgate valley. Throughout this Edinburgh walking tour, you will visit places linked to some of the most memorable events in Edinburgh’s rich history. You’ll walk in the footsteps of royal wedding parties, visit the site of executions, find out the location of a long lost palace and and we will take you to places most visitors to Edinburgh miss. “Robert is a supremely- talented guide. He tailored my 2-hour tour by asking my preferences. No boring scripted tour with him. In addition, Robert was a walking encyclopedia of information, providing fascinating details and insights about history and the sites. There never was a dull moment…His passion for history makes Robert an ideal guide for this kind of tour! Highly-recommended!!” TripAdvisor review by Michael H - August 2019

Hidden secrets on our Edinburgh tours Deacon Brodie. Your Edinburgh guided tour takes you into a close.

WE ADAPT YOUR ROUTE TO

SUIT

Edinburgh can sometimes be incredibly busy, especially the area between the Tron Kirk and the Lawnmarket. When the Edinburgh International Festival and Festival Fringe are on in August/September, we sometimes offer an alternative route down to the Canongate. Altering the tour this way allows us to run a safer walk which keeps everyone together, and incorporates just as many interesting and picturesque locations.

- COME AND EXPLORE 500 YEARS OF SCOTLAND’S HISTORY!

GREYFRIARS BOBBY - A

WORLD-FAMOUS STORY!

Your walk starts in Greyfriars Kirkyard, next to the grave of one of Edinburgh’s most famous ‘characters’…the little Skye Terrier, Greyfriars Bobby. We’ll look at his famous story and some not-so-famous alternative theories of the life of this iconic wee dog. Which story is the truest account of Bobby’s life? That’s for you to ponder!

EXPLORE OFF THE BEATEN

PATH

We’ve designed this tour to take you to some ‘off-the- beaten-path’ places. You’ll experience many different locations within the oldest part of Edinburgh’s UNESCO World Heritage Site. Keeping to the quieter areas also helps us deliver our tour more effectively. While we do visit the Royal Mile, we also visit some of Edinburgh’s historic places on the other side of the Cowgate valley. You’ll hear stories which many other tours don’t cover.

AN EDINBURGH PLAYBOY

William Brodie’s story is one of the ‘classic’ Old Edinburgh tales. Brodie was a businessman and a deacon on the Town Council, but his love of the high life was his downfall. He might have been respectable by day, but by night he was a gambler, a womaniser and a thief. You’ll discover the Edinburgh he’d have known, from his childhood home to the scene of his death. We’ll share an eyewitness account of his last moments to help you ponder over one of the biggest Old Edinburgh mysteries, did Brodie cheat his execution? And we’ll tell you these stories at the very spot on which he died!

CLOSE ENCOUNTERS IN OLD

EDINBURGH

Any Edinburgh guided walk must take you to the narrow alleyways which were the very veins of the Old Town, packed with people, businesses, and stories. We’ll explain the living conditions during the late eighteenth century, a time when the Old Town was at it’s height of fame and importance. Our stories will make you realise not only what Edinburgh folk went through, but how they used it to create positive social conditions. By the end of our story, you’ll appreciate your home plumbing way more than you ever thought possible!
