GREYFRIARS HISTORY TOUR
This Greyfriars tour will reveal to you the stories of some of Scottish history’s most fascinating and significant characters. Our focus on history, rather than ghosts, is something that makes our Greyfriars tour different to most other tours which come here.   We believe that history can be just as intense, just as spine-tingling as stories of the paranormal. The body snatchers who almost certainly skulked around Greyfriars were also known as ‘Resurrection Men’ because they were known to resurrect the bodies of the dead. We won’t attempt that on your tour, but we will resurrect their stories instead. We will bring them back to life through our carefully researched and well delivered stories.  We’ll interweave their tales with the city in which they lived . This Greyfriars Kirkyard tour is an exploration of what life was like in Old Edinburgh itself. Discover their experiences from Scottish history as we resurrect them in our own exciting ways!

Greyfriars Kirkyard Tour

Book Greyfriars Kirkyard Tour
Most Kirkyard tours focus on Greyfriars Bobby and the ghostly side of the Kirkyard. Our tour though is strictly history, and we believe it’s better because of it! Come with us and experience one of the most comprehensive history tours of the burial ground available. This tour covers stories of some of Edinburgh’s most important and controversial characters - from a man who had the power of a King to social commentators and grave robbers, we’ve got the lot. Whether you believe in ghosts or not, there is certainly something incredibly atmospheric about Greyfriars. A historical tour of the Kirkyard would be missing something if we didn’t look at the ghostly side of Greyfriars. On our tour, we deftly combine history and the paranormal with the tales we tell.  We’ll let you find out everything about Sir George ‘Bluidy’ Mackenzie, and you’ll get a chance to experience what his desire for torture looked and felt like (no, really, you will!), and you’ll also find out just how the Covenanters suffered during the “Killing times.” Oh, we’ve even got a historic ghost story about the Mackenzie tomb!

“This was one of the highlights of our recent trip to Edinburgh… A really entertaining and informative tour that helped us understand a lot more about Edinburgh and some of the people who once lived there. The stories were told with humour and with so much information, it was definitely great value for money. I would definitely recommend this tour, we had an excellent evening.”
